What if your EMR wasn’t just a digital filing cabinet—but a team of intelligent assistants working together behind the scenes?
That’s exactly where we’re headed with multi-agent systems for healthcare. In this model, each task in the care journey is handled by a dedicated AI agent—focused, fast, and always in sync with others.
At ViClinic, we’ve started shaping this future. And we’re giving each of these agents a name that fits their role and purpose: Vi-Agents.
Traditional EMRs try to do everything in one place—but that often leads to complexity, burnout, and missed opportunities.
In contrast, Vi-Agents operate like a care team:
The result? Smarter workflows, less admin overhead, and more time for actual care.
Here’s a glimpse at what a ViClinic-powered, Multy Agent-based EMR could look like:
Vi-Agent Role in the System
Vi-Talk Interacts with patients to collect symptoms, flag risk factors, and structure data
Vi-CareAnalyzes input and recommends evidence-based care paths for physician review
Vi-Scribe Listens to clinician-patient conversations and generates structured SOAP notes
Vi-Order Manages labs, imaging, referrals, and prior auth with minimal manual input
Vi-FollowUp Sends post-visit summaries, reminders, and education to patients
Vi-Com Handles communication with outside systems—pharmacies, labs, payers—securely
These Vi-Agents work independently, but collaborate in real-time. They’re not black boxes—they’re transparent assistants with specific roles, all operating under clinician oversight.
At ViClinic, Dr. Vi is our first Vi-Agent in production. As a patient-facing intake and triage assistant, Dr. Vi:
Dr. Vi is already being used to save time, improve documentation, and enhance the patient experience. It’s a model we’re now scaling across the care journey.
Vi-Agents are powerful—but they don’t make decisions alone.
Every output must be:
✅ Reviewable
✅ Overridable
✅ Explainable
Our goal is to remove friction, not remove humans. Physicians remain the final authority in every clinical and operational decision. Vi-Agents assist—they don’t replace.
We designed the Vi-Agent architecture with data protection from day one:
In a multi-agent system, privacy isn’t a feature—it’s the foundation.
The development of Vi-Agents—starting with Dr. Vi, our AI-powered pre-visit symptom assistant—has been made possible through integration with IBM watsonx Orchestrate and Watson Assistant. These tools give us a flexible, scalable foundation for building intelligent, conversational agents that plug directly into clinical workflows. Dr. Vi uses Watson Assistant’s natural language capabilities to interact with patients and collect structured data, while watsonx Orchestrate supports agent coordination, action sequencing, and integration across the ViClinic EMR platform. It’s a powerful combination that helps us deliver modular AI capabilities within a secure, clinician-supervised EMR system.
The next generation of EMRs won’t be one-size-fits-all. They’ll be dynamic platforms powered by Vi-Agents that adapt, scale, and think alongside care teams.
We’re already on the way there—with Dr. Vi as the first example of what’s possible.
